It's also the fundamental concept behind a large number of diverse
and/or informal organizations.  The absence of a formal structure or a
programmatic infrastructure doesn't mean there's no organization.  The
"bounties" that exist are more likely to be expressed by employment or
consulting contracts, where the binding friction is sufficient to
establish a formal relationship, or as online discussion lists where the
quick back-and-forth is more appropriate.
