There is one possible gem in what Tom says.  Obviously he owns the
right to compete in the marketplace for 'arch' support.  Given that he
wrote it, people are likely to want support from the author of the
program.  He could sell that right in the form of a non-compete
agreement.  It might not bring in enough income even to pay for the
cost of setting up the non-compete, but hey, it's worth trying.
