No. ;-)

One problem with trying to solve this set of problems by using trade
secrets alone is the issue of reverse engineering... this diminishes the
value of your otherwise good argument that "hey trade secrets may work
better than patents". Patents protect even (especially?) in the case of
reverse engineering. Trade secrets don't.
