I'm confused. What is the problem? How are binaries on ROM any
different from binaries on a floppy? All the GPL requires is that the
sources be _available_--you don't actually have to ship them with
every set of ROMs.
I was answering the issue as related to LGPL code. Yes, for ordinary
GPL it doesn't matter.
Note that the cost-limiting terms on source code availability (limited
cost and requirement that they be made available to _anyone_ who asks)
evaporate if you just ship source wiht the product. That's the idea.
