Subject: Linux in the NYTimes

The business section in today's [3 Feb 1998] New York Times has an
article on Netscape's upcoming source release of the browser.

The article explains the paradigm of free software, including the
"free speech, not free beer" metaphor, and dicusses the success of
Linux, saying it is a competitor to NT (which now constitutes more
than 35% of the under-$25K server market).

This is, to my knowledge, the first such explanation in the mainstream
press.
