A free hardware business is one where the IPR doesn't get in the way
of you tinkering with your machine.  Such as the GPLed designs for
small-craft-shop hexapod machine tools described at:

Compared to a libre software business, the copying costs for libre
hardware are a lot higher, so people generally collect for them.
