Patents are neither ethical nor efficient. But the right
to secrecy is an essential liberty, which society can strip
from citizens or enterprises only at great peril.
Beware: if giants like Microsoft are forced to disclose
their trade secrets today, whose privacy will be truly
secure tomorrow?
