Christopher B. Browne just wrote and published a great new essay on the
status of the free software and Linux world. It's called "Linux and
Decentralized Development" and it at <http://www.hex.net/~cbbrowne/lsf.html>.

Some of the topics covered include the creation of a Linux "foundation" (and
possible business/organizational models), current problems with Linux
support and free software funding, and some revealing comments on the FSF
and the subtle philosophical differences between RMS and Linus.

I think it is a must-read, right up there with Eric Raymond's "The Cathedral
and the Bazaar."
