I don't think Free Software depends in any way on RMS...

I don't know what'll happen to the FSF after his eventual demise (live
is invariably fatal).  But I'm sure his ideals will live on...  there
are even people out there who could be considered even *more* radical
than him (see the thread about free clients for non-free servers on
the debian-policy ML) ;-).
