No, John, you've got it all wrong.  You're talking about gratis, and
Stephen is talking about libre.  Freedom is not the same as zero
cost.  Yes, there is an opportunity *gain* to the public of free[dom
of] information, and that's what we exploit when we (e.g.) compete in
the operating system market against the greatest marketing company in
the world.
