These slides (except a mention of "value add software" in slide 12) seem
to assume that 100% of software writers make their living in companies
that sell boxed software in supermarkets, may be the presentation
was different :).

Only 5-20% of software writers make their living this way, all other
develop, tailor, fix, rglue, ecommand, deploy software continuously for
only one client. 

Sorry, never got other data point than word of mouth, anyone
with a solid economy reference on this?
